• Autonomous robot ‘Neubie’ begins Yogiyo delivery service in Songdo, Incheon… Plans to expand service nationwide with 2,000 robots
  • Ensures stability and reliability of robot delivery service based on over 10,000 driving experiences across 22 domestic and international locations

September 9, 2024 – Neubility, an autonomous robot service company, announced today the official launch of its robot delivery service in Songdo, Incheon, in collaboration with the food delivery app ‘Yogiyo’. This marks the first large-scale urban robot delivery service operated by a delivery app in Korea.

Through this collaboration, Neubility’s autonomous robot ‘Neubie’ will be deployed in areas where it’s difficult to secure human riders due to short distances, such as within apartment complexes and office buildings. The robots will pick up and deliver orders within a 1.2km radius from restaurants. A key advantage is the single-order delivery service, with delivery times under 30 minutes. Customers ordering food through the ‘Robot Delivery’ option on the Yogiyo app will receive a delivery completion message and can then pick up their food from the robot at a designated location.

Neubility’s self-developed autonomous robot became the first in Korea to obtain outdoor mobile robot safety certification in January, granting it the same legal status as pedestrians to operate on sidewalks. The robot operates at speeds up to 5.76 km/h in less crowded areas for quick delivery, in accordance with current laws, and safely reduces speed when encountering people, structures, or narrow sidewalks.

Notably, Neubility has reduced production costs by developing AI technology that allows stable navigation in complex urban environments using only cameras instead of expensive lidar sensors. The company has also secured partnerships with numerous domestic and international companies, completing over 10,000 driving experiences in 22 diverse locations including urban areas, residential complexes, campuses, and campgrounds, ensuring both stability and reliability of the robot delivery service.

Sangmin Lee, CEO of Neubility, stated, “The robot delivery service with Yogiyo demonstrates that delivery robots are no longer just innovative technology, but a practical solution improving urban delivery environments and contributing to local communities. We will continue to develop our technology and collaborate with partners to build and provide stable and efficient urban robot delivery operating systems.”

Soobaek Jang, CTO of Yogiyo, commented, “We are excited to offer our customers diverse ordering experiences through this robot delivery service with Neubility. We plan to maintain our partnership to advance innovative robot technology and improve stability.”

Neubility and Yogiyo plan to deploy about 2,000 delivery robots, expanding their service area nationwide, starting from Songdo.
